Down Your Way: Roselands and Seaside - May 16

A COFFEE Morning will be held at Christ Church, Seaside, this morning (Wednesday) from 9.30am, with a few stalls and small raffle. Free computer training for senior citizens is also available for anyone whishing to learn the basics. A short service in the Memorial Chapel follows the coffee morning at 11.30am.

ST AGNES Church Social Group meets in the hall, Whitley Road, tomorrow (Thursday) at 2pm. All are welcome.

THE Friendship Club for senior citizens meets tomorrow (Thursday) in the lounge of Duke Bernard Court, Latimer Road, 2.15pm-3.45pm. A WHIST Drive for all who enjoys a friendly game of cards will be held in St Augustine’s Hall of Christ Church tomorrow (Thursday), 2pm. The cost is £2.50 per person. For details ring Gladys on 720885.

ESK Gardening Club meets tomorrow evening (Thursday) when fuschia experts David Abbott and John Hitchcock will speak about these fascinating plants. The Gardening Club is free to join and meets every Thursday in the summer, 5.30pm-8pm, with a variety of talks, demonstrations and workshops. Experts are on hand to answer gardening queries. FILM FORUM meets in the vestry of Christ Church on Friday, May 18, at 7pm when a full-length feature film will be shown, followed by a short - discussion. The cost is £2 per person. Due to licensing restrictions the title of the film cannot be advertised - details on 749653.

A FUN Casino Night in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children will be held at the Langham Hotel on Friday, May 18, at 7.30pm. All money raised will go directly to help the the hospice support terminally-ill children and their families. The ticket price of £15 includes entry to the event, buffet, £10,000 in fun money, musical entertainment and a live caricaturist. A prize will be awarded to the person with the most chips at the end of the evening. There will also be a raffle,. Tickets are only available in advance and early booking is advisable. A JUBILEE Fair will be held at Christ Church on Saturday, May 26, 10am-2pm. Attractions include books, bottle stall, homemade cakes, tombola, crafts, New and Nearly New stall, and grand raffle with cash prizes of £100, £50 and £25. Lunches will be available and a Michael Bublé style entertainer will perform. Good quality products are needed now for stalls, which can be taken to the church any morning.
