ST AGNES Church Social Group meets in the hall, Whitley Road, tomorrow (Wednesday) at 2pm. All are welcome.

A WHIST Drive will be held in St Augustine’s Hall of Christ Church on Thursday, starting at 2pm. The cost is £2.50 per person. If you would like to join the group, ring Gladys on 720885 or just go along to St Augustine’s Hall on Thursday.

THE NHS Retirement Fellowship next meets on Thursday when Jim Bodell is the guest speaker. Meetings are held at the Blind Society Centre in Longstone Road at 2pm. The group is for anyone who has worked in any area of the medical profession within the NHS, and their spouse or partner. The annual subscription is £8. For further details call Hazel on 483454. Fellowship members have a range of speakers throughout the year and have an outing to Chatham Dockyard on Monday, July 30, and a lunch in Pevensey Bay on Thursday, August 16.

LIFE behind the scenes in five-star hotels is the theme when hotelier Neil Kirby and author Paul James give their talk From Park Lane to Royal Parade to members of Sovereign WI on Thursday, July 26. Meetings are held at Christ the King church hall, starting at 2pm.

ESK Gardening Club meets on Thursdays when gardening experts will be revealing which are their favourite plants and club members will have an opportunity to speak about theirs. There will also be an opportunity to get one-to-one gardening advice. Meetings are held at the Garden Centre in Courtlands Road, 5.30pm-8pm. The Club is free to join and meets every Thursday in the summer. There are a variety of talks, demonstrations and workshops for anyone interested in gardening.
