I HAVE been asked to let everybody know that unfortunately this year’s Christmas cards at the Windmill are now sold out. However they do have some of an earlier design showing the old mill in sepia and some with the windmill in a Christmas tree bauble. They are all the same price - contact Bee on 833033.
THE Peter Sangster Story: Many will remember Peter from his days at the Information Centre when he was treasurer. Sadly he was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and lost his battle in November of this year.
During this illness he wrote a very interesting book basically about his life, Christian beliefs and s thoughts on how he wanted to spend his remaining days.
The book gives an insight into the personality of a very charitable and likeable man and in true form he wanted all proceeds to be donated to the Macmillan Cancer support group.
If you would like a copy they are on sale at the Village Information Centre. By buying this book we would all help to make Peter’s wish come true in passing money on to this extremely worthwhile cause and one, which sadly, is more than overworked.
A NEIGHBOURHOOD Plan is being created for Herstmonceux Parish which includes the village, Cowbeech, part of Windmill hill and a large rural area.
This plan is a means of helping residents and businesses influence the planning of the area in which they live and work. This is our opportunity to shape the parish for the next 15 years.
The plan will propose where new homes, shops, offices and other development should be built; influence the design of new buildings; propose what types of dwellings are needed; look at upgrading existing or providing new facilities; and identify any infrastructure required: eg.water, sewage, transport requirements.
The key compulsory document in planning law states 70 dwellings will be built in Herstmonceux Parish up to 2027. The plan could increase this number but not reduce it.
The views of all parishioners, businesses and community groups are vital. Please contribute ideas so the sub-committee can draw up a questionnaire to be sent out to all parishioners and make sure your voice is heard.
Complete one of the forms available on the parish website www.herstmonceuxparish.org.uk or from the Village Information Centre or by calling Janet McInnes, parish clerk, on 833312.
This is our opportunity to help shape our village as regards homes, businesses, shops and facilities , we must not miss out on this chance.
