Down Your Way: Herstmonceux (June 20th)

Sadly we have to report that poor Rae has broken her wrist and is temporarily out of action which is why the Bowls report is a little shorter than normal, anyhow the first match we have to report on is an away match to Rotherfield which Herstmonceux lost the final score being seventy nine shots to fifty five which meant only one point on the League table. If I’ve got these in the right order then Hellingly was next, another away match and always a match that both teams enjoy having been friends for a very long time but rivalry still rules the day and Hellingly went out for a win and win they did by thirty seven shots and again this meant just the one point t on the League table. Away to Deanlands came next and a very beautiful spot to play made even better by Herstmonceux having a win sixty three ;points to fifty four giving them seven and half points on the table. Best of luck to Rae, hope the wrist feels a bit better soon if not; it definitely means learning to play bowls left handed.

It’s time for the street collections to begin and organiser June Exworth points out that this will be her forty second year organising this very necessary charity collection but she does still need some help in Herstmonceux and Boreham Street and if you feel you can help her could you give her a ring on 833779. I’m sure we all saw the new Lifeboat names Diamond Jubilee at Eastbourne; now let’s help raise some money to keep her running.
