MAZIE Head celebrated her 50th birthday and her daughters arranged a very surprise party for her at the Horseshoe Inn.

Mazie has tried to thank as many as possible for just being there and for all their gifts, good wishes etc. but most of all she wants to thank Sammy, Danielle and boyfriend Mark, Joanne and boyfriend Adman and not forgetting Keeley Hawkins who had so much to do with all those wonderful decorations.

A SPECIAL bingo evening is being held at the village hall in Herstmonceux on Friday, April 20, to raise money for the Village Hall Fund. Eyes down is at 7.30pm and a book of 12 games plus a fine selection of food costs £6 - Ian Stewart on 833450, Bryan Naish on 833747 or the hall clerk. They will also be have a licensed pay bar and an excellent raffle.

ON SATURDAY April 14 it’s off to the Cattle Market in Hailsham for all those who want to purchase good local food and reasonably priced crafts, meat, fish dairy products, it’s all there and all exceptionally fresh. If you have an unusual craft and are looking for somewhere to sell call Phil Brooks on 449478.

ANNUAL church meeting on Thursday April 19 at St Mary Magdalene, Wartling, at the Reid Hall in Boreham Street. All are welcome, the meeting starts 7.15pm - refreshments - afterwards.

CHURCH services - Sunday April 15 and Holy Communion (BCP) will be held at Wartling church at 8am with Holy Communion (common worship) along with the United Service with the Free Church being held at Herstmonceux church at 9.45am and 11am respectively.

WALKING Club - It’s the start of the Tuesday evening walks and the first one is to be run by Sue who will be meeting up with everybody on Tuesday, April 17, at the Park Wood car park at 6.30pm for a short stroll through the Bluebell Woods. All are welcome - 848790.
