AN UNWANTED stray who spent 205 days in kennels at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home at Brands Hatch has been given a second chance thanks to a couple from Eastbourne.
Andrew Morse and Anna Jones visited the Brands Hatch branch of the world famous animal charity to find a new companion.
Andrew said, “We went to Battersea with an open mind and met some lovely dogs during our visit. But when staff introduced us to Dori, that was it, we knew she was the one for us.”
The three to five-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, pictured left, arrived at Battersea as an underweight stray and saw hundreds of dogs go to happy new homes in her time at the rescue centre.
Ruth Dongray, from the centre, said, “Everyone here is so fond of Dori and we’re all over the moon she’s finally found her dream home.
“Although she’s a great dog we needed to find owners who would be prepared to put in time and effort to give her the training and TLC she missed out on as a young dog.
“Luckily Andrew and Anna came along and were the perfect match.”
Andrew added, “Staffies get such bad press but they are wonderful dogs. Dori is a fantastic example of her breed – she’s intelligent and extremely loving and we can’t imagine life without her now.
“She seems to be settling in well to the Eastbourne pace of life and loves walking on the Downs.
“She hasn’t been in the sea yet but we’re sure it won’t be long before she takes a dip.”
