Eastbourne lifeboat was called out to rescue a group of divers after they became stranded by sudden sea fog on Sunday (November 1).
Two lifeboats began to search an area six miles from Eastbourne’s coast after a support crew raised fears the nine divers would not be able to find their way back in the poor conditions.
Seven of the group were quickly found but two of them became separated and were lost in the fog.
A spokesman for Eastbourne RNLI said, “Some while later the two missing divers surfaced near to a small fishing boat and were recovered by the somewhat surprised anglers.
“Unfortunately the anglers were not monitoring the appropriate VHF safety channels and were blissfully unaware of the drama taking place around them.”
The anglers contacted the coastguard and the divers were returned to land safely.
