Disruption on roads and rail in Eastbourne after wind and rain hits the area


Commuters and motorists are experiencing delays this morning (Tuesday) as high winds and heavy rain continues to batter the town and surrounding areas.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning and predict winds of up to 50mph and showers across the south east.

On Facebook people are being advised to avoid St Philip’s Avenue if possible this morning as there are temporary traffic lights at the zebra crossing believed to be due to electrical problems.

Locally the B2124 at Golden Cross is blocked on the Lewes Road after a tree has fallen and a tree on the railway line is causing problems for train users between Hove and Brighton.

Services in to London via Forest Hill are also disrupted after a fallen tree with bus replacements for passengers.
