Disney castle dream comes true for family

Living in a Disney castle may be at the top of every little girl’s dream list but for one Polegate couple their wishes literally came true when their daughters did some handy paintwork while their parents were away on holiday.

Mum and dad Sonia and Trevor Hutchinson returned home from a weekend away at the MotoGP at Silverstone last week to find two of their daughters Nicola, 26, and Lauren, 23, had painted their Junction Road home to look like a Disney castle.

The mural of the castle on their end of terrace property is in pale blue and lilac with purple turrets and ivy creeping up the walls.

The front door is bright purple.

Even the stones have been outlined in perfect oblongs.

Nicola said, “We’re mad about Disneyland. You could say we’re obsessed really.

“Mum and dad were going away and we asked them, ‘What would you do if you came back from holiday and found we’d painted the house like a princess’s castle?’.

“They weren’t worried. They said, ‘It won’t happen, you’re both too lazy’.

“After they said that we just had to do it.”

The pair got the paint, worked over the whole weekend and finished just in time for mum and dad to get back home on Monday.

While most parents would have been less than pleased, the girls needn’t have worried as Sonia was thrilled.

“We can’t believe we live in a castle. But we’re really happy and thank goodness all the neighbours like it.

“We just love Disneyland. We’ve had a couple of recent trips and our grandson, James, who is 20 months, has already been twice!”

The repaint job also proved popular on the Facebook social networking site too.

Lisa Hollyoak said, “You’re going to have every kid stop and look at your house. You need to buy a Cinderella dress. Get into character.”

Jessye Gent-Plumstead said, “I just drove past the house, love it. I’m going to convince Poppy that Cinderella lives in that house.”

Debbie Okines said, “This is brilliant,” and Debra Hanrahan also said, “It’s brilliant, love living in Junction Street where anything can happen.”
