POLICE are hoping locals will come forward and help identify two men who attacked a 20-year-old in the town centre – leaving him needing hospital treatment.
The man was targeted by the men at around 2.15am back on Saturday, March 31, on the junction with Pevensey Road and Terminus Road. After a short row one of the men set about the victim, repeatedly punching him in the face.
Detective Constable Julian Harris of East Sussex CID said, “This was a nasty attack and the man has had to undergo painful surgery on his fractured jaw at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
“Fortunately a member of the public came to the victim’s assistance and helped flag down patrolling officers and has further assisted us with the investigation.
“However, we need more people to come forward who may have witnessed the attack or know the persons responsible for this unnecessary assault.”
The attacker who struck the blows is described as white, in their early 20s, of stocky build with short brown hair and was wearing a light coloured t-shirt and jeans. The other one is described as around the same age and of similar appearance but was wearing a black t-shirt and trousers.
Anyone who saw anything or has any information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
