Fundraisers could be in with a chance of winning a week’s stay in a Spanish villa by taking part in a triathlon event next month.
The Ataxia-Telangiectasia Society, which is a charity supporting families and children with the rare degenerative terminal genetic disorder, is running its annual Mega-Tri fundraiser on Saturday, April 11.
The event starts with a 4km swim on Saturday morning at a 25m pool in Eastbourne, with participants able to form a relay team of maximum four swimmers. On the day, there will be plenty of supervision, supporters and experienced swimmers, so it will be safe event for all the family to take part in.
The cycling event will begin on the Saturday at 12.30pm to give the swimmers also participating in the event a chance to dry off. The scenic course covers 100km of the South Downs countryside and Brighton area, so riders will need to be comfortable completing this distance at a pace of around 25km to 15km/hour. There will be stops for refreshments and bike maintenance along the way and to change riders if part of a two-man relay team.
The Mega-Tri event culminates with the 26.2-mile long Brighton Marathon on Sunday, April 12.
The individual fundraiser with the highest sponsorship total wins a seven-night stay in a Spanish Villa for up to six people.
