Crowds queue for Eastbourne Aldi opening
Crowds of people have attended the opening of a new Aldi store in Eastbourne in hopes of winning a number of prizes this morning (April 28).
To draw attention to its new Lottbridge Drove store, the supermarket promised to give away prizes including televisions, tablet PCs and free bags of shopping to its first hundred customers.
The store officially opened at 8am but shoppers began queuing several hours earlier with a queue stretching across the supermarket carpark.
Mark Hawkins, who competes in handball for Team GB, officially opened the store alongside store manager, Pa Bayo and deputy mayor Jim Murray as part of a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Speaking ahead of the opening Aldi store manager, Pa Bayo said, “The team and I are really looking forward to the store opening next week and with some great golden ticket prizes up for grabs, we’re hoping for a good turnout on the morning of the opening.”
