Teenager due in court over Hailsham killing

A TEENAGER was due in court this morning (Saturday) charged with the murder of Darren Croxton in Hailsham earlier this year.

Stuart Johnson, 18, of no fixed abode, was charged yesterday following the fatal stabbing of Darren Croxton in Hailsham in January 2012. Johnson was remanded into custody and was due to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The teenager is the second person to be charged with murder following Darren’s death - a 16-year-old boy from Hailsham was charged with the murder of the father-of-one back in February and remains in custody. Darren was killed on January 22 following a fight in Bramble Drive.

A 48-year-old man formerly from Hailsham arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice has been rebailed until early September along with another 16-year-old boy, also formerly of Hailsham, who was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

A 17-year-old boy from Hailsham and a 20-year-old man from Hastings, both arrested in January on suspicion of murder will have no further action taken against them at this stage.
