Search for Eastbourne robbery suspects
Police are appealing for witnesses to an attack in Eastbourne.
According to police, at about 3pm on Saturday (January 18) a 56-year-old man was attacked in Enys Road near the junction with Upperton Road, by a group of men who pulled the victim to the ground and after a sustained attack, took cash from him.
Police say the man later received hospital treatment for cuts and bruises.
The suspects, say police, were in a black car – possibly a Mini Cooper.
Detective Constable Mitchell Humby said, “The attackers only stopped when a couple driving by challenged them - are you that couple? We would like to speak with you as you may have key information.
“This was a busy time of day with many drivers and pedestrians in Upperton Road, who may have witnessed this attack.
“We are working to establish the full circumstances of this incident so if you can help, and particularly if you are that couple who shouted out to the suspects – please make contact with us either online or via 101 quoting serial 552 of 19/01.”
Witnesses can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
