TWO MOTORCYCLISTS who were clocked doing more than 130mph on the A27 in Polegate have been given suspended prison sentences.
Daniel Miles, 27, of Colesmead Road, Redhill, and Lloyd Taylor, 23, of Oak Road Caterham, were stopped by an unmarked road policing car on June 12.
They pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and speeding when they appeared at Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 11.
The court heard how the two riders were arrested and their Honda CBR motorbikes seized by police after they were caught doing speeds of more than 130mph.
Magistrates sentenced the pair to six weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, ordered them to do 150 hours of unpaid work, banned them from driving for 15 months and also ordered them to pay £85 court costs.
Sergeant Dan Pitcher, from the East Sussex Road Policing Unit, said, “Roads policing officers in Sussex have a number of vehicles – marked and unmarked – which are pro-actively used to detect anti-social and dangerous riding.
“Members of the public concerned about someone’s manner of driving are also urged to make use of our online reporting form which can be found at www.operationcrackdown.org”
