A PREGNANT woman dropped heroin off a hotel roof to a man who wanted a hit, a court heard on April 26.
The prosecution said police officers noticed a man loitering in Seaside Road, Eastbourne at midnight on January 30.
He whistled up to the balcony of a hotel room at the Heatherdene Hotel and Jade Martin, who is staying at the hotel, emerged with an envelope which she tossed down to him.
Police stopped the man and recovered the envelope with a container of brown liquid, which was later discovered to be heroin. Officers went to 37-year-old Martin’s address and arrested her for possessing a class A drug. She pleaded guilty to the offence at Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (April 26).
In a statement read out in court she said it was a mistake and she was only doing it so the man could get his fix.
Martin - who is four months pregnant - also admitted breaching a conditional discharge, which she received for shouting and swearing in the street on November 1.
Magistrates said they were pleased with her progress on her alcohol rehabilitation programme. They sentenced her to one day’s detention, did not fine her or award costs and did not take action over the breach of her conditional discharge.
