Wealden Police are warning consumers not to believe scammers who say they are able to reclaim bank charges.
There have been a number of reports of attempted thefts of money by scammers offering large bank refunds.
Fraudsters ask their victims to send them a fee in the form of a Ukash voucher code. Approaches have been made both via email and phone.
Once Ukash details are sent the money is taken, however no bank charges are recovered.
Ukash is designed to enable you to use your banknotes and coins to pay or send money on the internet. You don’t need a bank account or credit card to use Ukash, however fraudsters are using this more and more to target their victims.
Only spend Ukash online and at genuine merchants.
Never email vouchers or give voucher codes in full or part by email or phone.
