TWO off duty police officers, who had finished their shift at Polegate, have helped to track down a motorcycle which had been stolen in Eastbourne.
The road traffic officers were cycling home towards Eastbourne on the Cuckoo Trail at 4.30pm on Monday afternoon when they spotted an abandoned motorbike.
They found that the registration plate had been removed and that it had been hotwired. It was later discovered that the vehicle had been recently stolen from Eastbourne.
The officers checked the area and found a man nearby, who was arrested over the theft of the motorbike. He was taken to Eastbourne police station where he has been bailed pending further enquiries.
A second man found nearby is helping police with their enquiries.
If anyone saw the motorbike being ridden on the Cuckoo Trail about this time they are asked to contact police on 101 quoting serial 1175 of the 24/9.
