Man damaged girlfriend’s car after argument

A MAN kicked his girlfriend’s car and caused £400 damage after his drink was spiked, a court has heard.

Aaron Richard White, 37, had rowed with partner Kelly Donghue before damaging her Ford Ka which was parked near his home in Terminus Road.

White, an unemployed panel beater, appeared before Eastbourne magistrates on Monday morning and admitted causing the criminal damage.

The court was told he had paid for the car to be repaired immediately after the incident, which he said was caused after he had a drink with a friend who had spiked his drink with drugs.

Claire Prodger, prosecuting, said that the couple had argued in the early hours of April 2 and he told her he was going to damage her car.

She called police who found the car boot had been kicked in.

Sarah Clarke, defending, said that White had admitted the offence immediately but could not remember why he did it.

She said, “He had a drink with a friend early in the evening and he later discovered his drink had been spiked with drugs.

“He fixed the car at his own expense.”

She said that the defendant was not working at the moment as he was recovering from cancer.

He was given a conditional discharge for six months and also ordered to pay £85 court costs.
