THE BIG street meet held throughout Wealden by Sussex Police was a resounding success, even with the sporadic bad weather trying to dampen spirits.
Some 64 meetings were held on the day, attended by local residents, councillors and Neighbourhood Watch members. Issues raised ranged from parking problems to increasing night patrols in some of the town centres.
Inspector Tony Wakefield from Wealden Neighbourhood Police Team said, “The big street meet was a great opportunity for residents to come out and talk to their local officers about issues that matter to them. We will continue to hold street meetings on a regular basis as they are always warmly welcomed by the local community.
“There were a number of issues brought up throughout the district, which local officers are already looking into and dealing where appropriate.”
Wealden Neighbourhood Police Team is asking people who were unable to attend the meeting in their area to visit the Sussex Police website for local meetings they can attend throughout the year at www.sussex.police.uk
