Attack victim treated for facial injuries

POLICE are appealing for information after a 22-year-old local man was attacked as he walked through the town centre on Thursday last week.

The victim was walking past Poundland just after 8.30pm when he was struck in the face by a girl, followed by a punch to the face by a teenage boy, causing cuts to his eye.

The victim ran from his attackers down Terminus Road towards the Gildredge pub where he sought refuge.

The group of teenagers chased after him but were refused entry to the pub.

The victim was later treated at Eastbourne District General Hospital for facial injuries.

PC Lisa Howes said, “This type of anti-social behaviour in our town will not be tolerated. We want to hear from anyone who witnessed this unprovoked attack.”

The suspects are all described as aged between 16, 17 and 18 years.

Police would like to speak to a white girl, 16 to 17 years old, quite small, of average build with shoulder length dark hair. She was wearing a red top and had whiskers drawn on her face.

One of teenage boys is described as white, 6’, around 18 years and of normal build with dark spiky hair. He was wearing grey jogging bottoms and a black and yellow jacket.

A second teenage boy is described as white, 17, of average build with black spiky hair and was wearing a jacket.
