Armed police called to Eastbourne incident

Armed police were called to an incident in Eastbourne town centre last night (Monday).

Sussex Police said officers responded to a report of a man with a firearm at a property in Cavendish Place at 9.45pm.

A spokesperson said, “Officers safely detained the suspect and seized a firearm which is thought to be a BB gun.

“A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion on possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and remains in custody for questioning.
