East Sussex Credit Union is now running a weekly help desk in Devonshire West to provide free advice on how to join the ethical banking service.
Marta Baginska is on hand to talk to people about the services on offer.
She said, “This is a not-for-profit community bank with simple savings accounts, fair rates and responsible lending. People become members and it is a purely local scheme.”
The sessions have been funded by the Big Local lottery project to bring access and information about the Credit Union to Devonshire West.
Adrian Ley, the finance officer for the resident-led team, said, “This has been in the Big Local plans right from the start.
“East Sussex Credit Union is a community-based finance initiative that provides such a valuable service. ”
Marta is in the Devonshire Children’s Centre on Wednesdays from 11am to 1pm.
