HAIRDRESSING student Nicole Dunn has been selected to compete in the WorldSkills (UK) final in Birmingham following the regional heats held in Oxford recently.
Her creative hairdressing skills ensured she was successful in being shortlisted to compete in the live event of the Advanced Hairdressing WorldSkills (UK) Competition.
Nineteen-year-old Nicole, a former Eastbourne Academy pupil, had to undertake a rigorous competition, comprising two tests over six hours. The candidates had to express creativity by producing a progressive, dynamic and advanced hairstyle using form, texture and colour for the first test.
The second challenge was to create a long hair design with ornamentation using colour to enhance the design. Marks were awarded for inspiration, creativity and degree of difficulty.
The top candidates achieving the highest marks across all heats will be invited to compete in the WorldSkills (UK) final at Birmingham NEC in November.
