The following are court results from Hastings Magistrates’ Court which covers the Eastbourne area from June 7 - June 8.

June 7:

Lewis Ian Barnett, 40, of Princes Road, Eastbourne, was found guilty of being in breach of failing to comply with notification requirements of foreign travel under the Sexual Offences Act 2003. The offence took place between July 7 and 10 last year. He was committed to prison for eight weeks, suspended for 12 months. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was because it was the second breach of requirements. The court also made a community order with a requirement of 80 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £600 in costs.

Natalie Hardman, 39, of Tintern Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, when suspected of having driven a vehicle on Tintern Close on January 26. She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and banned from driving for 18 months.

Terry Harris, 28, of Aberdale Road, Polegate, pleaded guilty to stealing three Nike jumpers, worth £24.97 from T J Hughes, at Terminus Road, Eastbourne, on February 3. The court made a community order with a requirement of 80 hours of unpaid work.

Mahamoud Mahamoud, 30, of Terminus Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to two charges of using threatening behaviour. The offences took place at Langney Road, Eastbourne, on November 21 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement of 50 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £600 in costs.

Jordan Ross, 20, of Brassey Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to being in breach of a restraining order made by the court on August 13 last year. He also admitted being in breach of a suspended prison sentence, made by magistrates last year, for criminal damage and assault. He was sentenced to a total of 12 weeks in prison.

June 8:

Benjamin Cowley, 41, of Brook Street, Polegate, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on Wannock Avenue, Eastbourne, on May 24 while over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 50 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £370 and banned from driving for one year.

Jane Cox, 42, of The Hellingly Centre, The Drive, Hellingly, pleaded guilty to three charges of assaulting women by beating. The offences took place at Hellingly Hospital on April 14 and 15. She was ordered to pay a total of £300 compensation.

Kenneth Hemsley, 42, of Seaside Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a BMW vehicle on Seaside Road, Eastbourne, on May 20, while over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 51 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £600 and banned from driving for one year.

Joseph Scott, 33, of Croxden Way, Eastbourne, was jailed for a total of 16 weeks after pleading guilty to stealing sunglasses worth £150 from Specsavers at Eastbourne on May 3. He admitted to being in breach of two earlier suspended sentences made by magistrates for seven offences of shoplifting. Magistrates said the reason for the prison sentence was because of the further offence, while on suspended sentences, and multiple previous similar offences. They also ordered him to pay £115 compensation.

Simon Williams, 44, of Pensford Drive, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a small bag of cannabis. The offence took place at Eastbourne on May 21. He was fined £175.

Tina Doe, 31, of The Diplocks, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Western Road, Hailsham, on April 2. She was given a one year conditional discharge.

Ann Lawford, 56, of Marine Parade, Eastbourne, was found guilty of causing £600 of damage to computer equipment and personal items belonging to the NHS and Dr Piggot. She was also found guilty of using threatening behaviour. The offences took place at Eastbourne District General Hospital on November 10 last year. Magistrates issued a warrant for arrest without bail due to a failure to appear in answer to bail.

Maryanne Palmer, 33, of The Diplocks, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Western Road, Hailsham, on April 2. She was given a one year conditional discharge.

Kieran Walbrin, 20, of Ash Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Peugeot car on the A27 Eastbourne Road, at Polegate, on April 5, with cannabis in his bloodstream. He also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance. He was banned from driving for one year.

James Tonner, 31, of Eastern Avenue, Polegate, pleaded guilty to driving a BMW on Kings Drive, Eastbourne, on March 6, with cannabis in his bloodstream. He was fined £80 and banned from driving for three years.
