March 30:

Nicholas Leon, 31, of Stone Cross Road, Crowborough, was found guilty of breaking into Lite Bites Cafe at Hailsham Road, Polegate, on January 4 with intent to steal. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for six months. He was also ordered to pay £276.36 in compensation. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was because it was a night time burglary targeting a premises for easy cash.

Lynda McMillan, 32, of Kirkstall Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to handling a stolen pair of diamond earrings between February 8 and 10. She also pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation at G A Pawnbrokers, Langney Road, Eastbourne, on February 9, intending to expose the business to a risk or loss. Magistrates made a community order with a requirement of 200 hours of unpaid work.

Nathan Goulding, 21, of Commercial Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly at Terminus Road, Eastbourne, on February 27. He was fined £65.

April 7:

Catherine Edwards, 31, of Royal Sussex Crescent, pleaded guilty to driving a Seat car dangerously in Eastbourne at Seaside Road, Marine Parade and Royal Parade on January 30. She also pleaded guilty to failing to stop at Seaside Road, when required to do so by a police officer, and to driving while over the legal limit. She gave a breath alcohol reading of 50 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. Magistrates committed her to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing.

Karl Robb, 29, of Mill Close, Poynings, pleaded guilty to being in charge of a vehicle while having cannabis in his blood. The offence took place at McDonalds car park, Lottbridge Drove, Eastbourne, on January 27. He also admitted being in breach of a suspended sentence imposed by Lewes Crown Court on October 22 for possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possessing cocaine. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing.

Douglas Wallace, 56, of Emms Lane, Horsham, was found guilty of assault by beating. The offence took place at Willingdon on September 30. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £620.

April 8:

Daniel Townsend, 46, of Beechfields Close, Stone Cross, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with a community order of unpaid work. He was fined £117.
