February 2:

Immanuel Surena, 32, of Edmund Close, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes vehicle on St John’s Road, Polegate, on November 8 while disqualified. He also pleaded guilty to driving with cannabis in his bloodstream, failing to stop for police and being in breach of a six- month conditional discharge imposed by an earlier court for criminal damage. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison and banned from driving for 36 months. Magistrates said the reason for the custodial sentence was because of breach of a court order, while under the influence of drugs, aggravated by previous convictions.

Caroline Sinden, 42, of Mannington Road, Hellingly, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to charges of fraud and theft. The offences took place at Eastbourne between October 1 and December 31, last year, and involved dishonestly making a false representation, intending to make a gain for herself of £4,146. She was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months. The court also made a community order with a requirement of 200 hours of unpaid work, and ordered her to pay £1,500 in compensation. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was because it involved theft and fraud by an employee.

Matthew Wylle, 44, of Elms Avenue, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing fragrances worth £36 from T J Hughes at Terminus Road, Eastbourne, on October 31 last year. He also pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour on Eastbourne beach on August 25 last year and admitted being in breach of an 18- month conditional discharge made for an earlier offence of theft. He was fined £75 and ordered to pay £26 in compensation. The court also made a community order.

Carl Potts, 46, of St John’s Road, Eastbourne, was found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The offence took place at a car park, at Tideswell Road, Eastbourne, on August 3 last year. He pleaded guilty to being in possession of a sharp, or bladed article in a public place, on the same date. The court made a community order, with a requirement of 150 hours of unpaid work. He was ordered to pay £250 in compensation and a further £250 in prosecution costs.

February 3:

Ashley Flynn, 36, of Hudson Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Mini Cooper at The Crumbles retail park, Eastbourne, on June 22 last year, while more than three times over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 122 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and banned from driving for five years.

Angela Keeley, 36, of Seaside Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to taking a Saab vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance. The offences took place on East Dean Road, East Dean, on December 10. In addition she pleaded guilty to charges of driving a Citroen Saxo on East Dean Road, East Dean, on August 29, last year while disqualified, driving with no insurance and failing to stop after an accident in which damage was caused to another vehicle. She was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months, and banned from driving for two years. The court also made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and ordered her to pay £200 in prosecution costs. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was due to ‘previous convictions and a similar and recent pattern of offending’.

Stephanie Rarchaert, 37, of Ashurst Road, Seaford, pleaded guilty to driving a Peugeot car in Devonshire Place, Eastbourne, on December 12 while more than twice over the drink- drive limit. She gave a breath alcohol reading of 90 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. The court made a community order with a requirement of 60 hours of unpaid work and banned her from driving for two years.

Rafal Rutkowski, 37, of Seaside Road, Eastbourne, was found guilty of assault by beating. The offence took place at Buskers Bar, Seaside Road, on November 6. He also pleaded guilty to causing £50 damage to a wooden wall panel and resisting arrest, on the same date. He admitted being in possession of the Class A drug MDMA and amphetamines. The court made a community order with a requirement of 120 hours and ordered him to pay £150 in compensation and £410 in prosecution costs.

February 8:

Luke Innes, 23, of Chichester Road, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to causing £150 damage to a wooden balcony at Hellingly Sports Club, on September 12. He was fined £85 and ordered to pay £150 in compensation.

Damon Kelly, 31, of Pevensey Close, Crawley, pleaded guilty to being in breach of a restraining order by sending texts and making telephone calls. The offences took place at Eastbourne between December 17 and January 1. The court made a community order with requirements for alcohol dependency treatment and 60 hours of unpaid work.

Jamie Middleton, 29, of The Portlands, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Astra van on Bourne Street, Eastbourne, on December 4, when a controlled drug, Benzoylecgonine, in his bloodstream exceeded the specified limit. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis resin on the same date. He was fined £400 and banned from driving for one year.

Colin Weskin, 44, of Waterworks Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing food items worth £44.98 from Tesco, at Hastings, on January 19. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge.
