The sun has kept shining in Eastbourne – the UK’s sunniest place – but much of the rest of the county has suffered torrential rain today.

There has been flash flooding in Shoreham and Portslade, with roads closed, and torrential rain to the north of the county.

Some West Sussex residents were forced to put planks and sandbags outside their houses to stem the flow of water.

Despite dire weather warnings, Eastbourne has so far managed to stay dry and bright.
