The curtain rises on the sixth annual Eastbourne Festival later this month.
The festival, from March 27 to April 21, includes all kinds of performance events, from popular and classical music, dance, burlesque, theatre and comedy and on the visual arts there is the East Sussex Open exhibition at Towner, other exhibitions and artists’ open houses and studios.
Last week saw the launch of the Eastbourne Festival brochure 2013 at the Birley Centre and Julian Sutherland-Beetson spoke of the past success of the festival and the exciting programme in place for this year.
He thanked all the sponsors, especially the main sponsor Stephen Rimmer, solicitors, for all their support. Music was provided by Jayne Feeman and Adam Piggott and drinks by Barefoot Wines.
Festival brochures are available from Stephen Rimmer Solicitors, 28-30 Hyde Gardens, and other venues or to see an online version visit www.eastbournefestival.co.uk
Organiser Helen Warren said, “March 27 will see the first day of this increasingly popular annual arts festival by the sea and for three weeks it will feature a wide range of events covering all artistic disciplines.
“Eastbourne Festival aims to celebrate Eastbourne, its unique identity, inhabitants, qualities and history with a programme of diverse artistic activity. We are pleased and excited that the festival has now become a major date in the South East arts calendar. The festival is greater than the sum of its parts and each year sees a different ‘strand’ emerge.”
The festival was launched in 2007 to mark the completion of the iconic new Towner art gallery and has grown in content and stature ever since.
