Con-man stole hundreds of pounds from pensioner’s Eastbourne home


A callous con-man stole hundreds of pounds from a 74-year-old man after pretending he was from a water company.

The man tricked his way into the pensioner’s Astaire Avenue home at about 3.45pm on Monday (November 18)

The intruder told the householder the water needed to be turned off. He told the man to fill several buckets in preparation and while he was doing so at the kitchen sink the intruder is thought to have taken the money and left.

The suspect is described as a white man with short, greying hair, 5’7”, stocky and clean shaven. He was wearing a dark blue jacket.
