Community hall in Pevensey is now watertight

Renovation of Pevensey Memorial Hall is now underway and the community building is once again watertight.

The Hall Management Committee are pleased to announce the much-needed renewal of the roof and high level windows has now been completed.

This work has become increasingly urgent as the old roof had reached the end of its life and was beginning to leak.

Roy Sales, treasurer of the committee said, “We would like to offer our sincere thanks to the Veolia Environmental Trust who provided the major part of the funding for this project.

“Thanks also to the personnel of the Trust for their valued help and advice throughout the process.

“Additional help and funding was provided by Wealden District Council, Pevensey Parish Council and Pevensey Town Trust and our sincere appreciation is also extended to them.

“We must also thank Barry & Co, solicitors, who carried out a considerable amount of work concerning the Title Registry at no cost to the hall.”

The roof will be now be secure for many years to come but more work is needed to complete the renovation of the building.

Roy added, “We cannot rest there because we now need to secure funding to renew the interior ceiling and electrics and we will now turn our attention to these matters.”
