EASTBOURNE College has hosted a Midsummer Concert in aid of the Chaseley Trust.

In addition to a selection of choral music performed by the College Chapel and Chamber choirs, James Harmer sang a solo in Christopher Steele’s blues style anthem ‘Thou art the way’  while Amy Corfield sang a soprano solo in Wesley’s ‘Blessed be the God and Father’.

There was also a performance of the ‘Agnus Dei’ from Robert Chilcott’s Jazz Mass, appropriately accompanied by keyboard and drums. David Force, head of academic music, displayed the full tonal range of the chapel organ in Salome’s ‘Finale’.

There were also readings of Elizabeth Barrett Browning, George Herbert and WB Yeats by Eastbourne College pupils, Priya Shanmuganathan, Katie Brauer and Stephen Burchett.

The concert, which took place in the College chapel, raised more than £200.
