Coastguard, police and Eastbourne Lifeboat crews were sent to reports a woman was in the water near Marine Parade at about 10pm.

South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) said the woman was pulled from the sea by police.

Paramedics checked her over at the scene and warmed up before being taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for further checks, a SECAmb spokesperson said.
