A MAJORETTE group twirled its way to success by raising hundreds of pounds for charity.

Hastings Coastal Twirlers marched along the seafront on Bank Holiday Monday from Winkle Island to the pier and back in aid of Thank The Forces.

They collected just over £200 and, because they had money left over from another fundraiser in June, will take the total up to £250.

Hastings Mayor Kim Forward, together with Popeye and Olive Oil, Councillor Richard Vallery-Peters, Carnival Queen April Grant and veterans from Hastings joined the majorettes.

Cllr Forward said: “I was impressed by their energy and marched with them to the town. The Twirlers have a reputation for their commitment to raising money for good causes.”

The majorettes would like to thank all those who gave generously and supported them on Monday.
