Child airlifted to London hospital after Eastbourne accident

A child has been airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after an accident involving a car.

Sussex Police said it was called to an accident at Friday Street this afternoon (December 16), involving a pedestrian and a car at the junction between Friday Street and Shinewater Lane.

A young girl, believed to be five-years-old, has been airlifted to St George’s Hospital in Tooting by the Kent, Sussex and Surrey ambulance service.

The driver of the Ford Fusion car involved, a woman aged in her late 50s, suffered shock.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or ring 101 quoting Operation Bright.
