Seaford Town Council has announced with sadness that the lease with St James Trust for the Old Town Hall, which comes to an end on March 31 after a five-year term, will not be renewed by the charity.
The Trust, which runs or hosts a range of activities for elderly or disabled local people, confirmed its decision in a letter to the Town Clerk.
It has made the decision to concentrate the charity’s efforts on its building in Blatchington Road, making improvements and expanding the services to the people of Seaford.
St James Trust will be closing the drop-in service at the Old Town Hall at the end of this month.
Seaford Town Council is therefore seeking to offer the historic building for rent and is inviting expressions of interest.
Any organisations or groups that would benefit from the use of a functional indoor space and a facility that holds much historical value in Seaford should contact the council for more information.
This can be done either by calling 01323 894870 or by an email addressed to The Projects and Facilities Manager on firstname.lastname@example.org
The Old Town Hall, in South Street, is Grade II Listed and is understood to date from the 18th century.
