A Christmas charity night took place at Willingdon Golf Club to raise money for Families with Autism.

Nearly seventy local performers entertained at the packed golf club.

Eastbourne Stagers started the night with an energetic preview of their forthcoming show Dick Whittington, which they are performing at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre from February 23 to 26.

This was followed by a super slick performance from Eastbourne’s award winning street-dance crew Demo Squad.

The first half was then rounded off by a special acoustic set from local duo Resonate.

During the interval, special guests Mayor of Eastbourne Janet Coles and Eastbourne and Willingdon MP Caroline Ansell did the duties of selling raffle tickets, while mince pies and sausage rolls were served.

The second half got underway with Christmas carols sung by Families for Autism’s Samuel Say.

This was followed by the 25-strong Phoenix Choir singing traditional Christmas carols under candlelight, then Caroline Ansell and Mayor Janet Coles did the honours drawing the spectacular raffle.

Local magician Kristopher Singh performed his close-up magic all throughout the evening and the night finished with a special Christmas quiz.

Organisers Don and Abby McPhee said, “A special thank you to Willingdon Golf Club for their generous hospitality and thanked everybody for coming – a great night was had by all.”

Don McPhee organises charity events throughout the year.
