Organisers of this year’s annual summer carnival are busy planning for the seafront extravaganza.
The event is on Saturday May 30 and the theme this year is Victorian Eastbourne by the Sea.
Once again Dave Cooper has been appointed pageant master by the MP’s Commission which brought the carnival back three years ago.
Dave said, “We are delighted to announce the carnival will be returning thanks to the MP’s Commission which has overall responsibility for the event.
“We want the event to be a great success and as far as we are concerned the more the merrier.
“Last year’s carnival was a great success, with more than 1,500 walkers taking part and with some 25,000 fans and supporters.
“We are planning to make this year’s carnival even bigger and better.
“A number of organisations have already signed up demonstrating the continued support for the event and we were very pleased with the messages of support we received after last year’s carnival.
“We will be issuing more detailed information about the route nearer the event but would ask people to start planning their entries now.”
Entry forms can be found on line at www.eastbournecarnival.co.uk
There is no charge to enter and businesses, charities, organisations and individuals can sign up.
Although yet to be officially confirmed, the route is likely to go from the Meads end of the town, along the seafront and ending up at Princes Park and Fisherman’s Green.
More than £7,500 was raised at the 2014 Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival.
Some £5,406.60 was donated to bucket collectors who joined the seafront procession at the end of May and with sponsorship of more than £2,000, it means half of the total will be donated to charitable organisations which took part in the parade.
The remaining half goes toward the running costs of this year’s carnival extravaganza.
