A kind-hearted carer has plunged from an aeroplane to raise cash for Eastbourne and District Mencap.

Mike Bentley , from Roselands, works for Eastbourne Mencap at one of its residential homes for adults with learning difficulties. At the Arundel Road house he helps support nine residents. He came up with the idea of the daredevil stunt after being given a skydiving voucher for his 21st birthday.

He said, “As the voucher had already been paid for I thought it would be a fantastic way for me to raise money for the people I care for and really make a difference – I raised £300.

“At Eastbourne Mencap I know our residents would really benefit from some new garden furniture so that they can enjoy this summer – also a lovely big parasol so they can relax in our sensory garden in the shade.”

Mike said he is choose to support Eastbourne Mencap because they do not receive any outside funding from central Mencap.

He added, “I know first hand that any donations will really benefit the care home residents.”
