PATIENTS and visitors to Eastbourne DGH will have to stump up extra cash from next week as car parking charges rise.
From Tuesday it will cost £1.30 to park for 30 minutes to an hour, the current charge being £1.10.
Up to 30 minutes is free.
For up to two hours, the charge rises from £2.20 to £2.60.
And up to three hours of parking at the DGH will set visitors back £3.90 – a rise of 60p.
The proposed increases were highlighted by bosses at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs the DGH at Eastbourne and the Conquest at Hastings, at their board meeting last Wednesday (April 27).
David Meikle, the Trust’s director of finance, said the charges were increasing by 18 per cent.
He said, “The Trust needs to ensure it is taking reasonable steps to secure the income required to maintain its parking position and to achieve financial balance.
“The proposed uplift in tariff is expected to generate a further £100,000 income per year.”
