A bus company says it hopes to raise green awareness among staff and customers at an event in Eastbourne next week.
Stagecoach South East says it will work to improve awareness of green issues and inspire environmental innovation at an event in Terminus Road on Wednesday, June 1.
The event, which will see Stagecoach staff giving away goodies and environmental information, comes as part of the company’s annual Green Week drive from May 30 to June 3 .
Stagecoach South East managing director Philip Norwell said, “Our commitment to our environmental responsibility is central to our business and we are continuing to take steps to become a greener business as well as working with our partners to protect our environment.
“To continue our efforts, we need to keep coming up with new innovations and ideas and we hope that during this year’s Green Week, our customers and staff can assist by giving their views and suggestions on how we can work together to protect our planet for future generations. These initiatives need to be done over the longer term, long after Green Week has finished.”
The company will also be holding a Twitter competition from Tuesday May 31 to Friday 3 June where followers can tweet @StagecoachSE their favourite film with an environmental theme or the word ‘Green’ in it for a chance to win a prize.
Last year Stagecoach pledged to continue to cut its carbon emissions and water waste across its businesses in Europe and North America through to 2019.
