Burglars steal widow’s sentimental items

BURGLARS stole items of sentimental value belonging to a 92-year-old woman from her home in Eastbourne.

They broke in at the rear of her property in Sevenoaks Road on Monday June 11 between midday and 1pm while she was in her front garden.

They stole a pair of binoculars which belonged to her late husband, items of jewellery including two brooches, three mother of pearl necklaces and three rings and her handbag which contained cash.

It is believed the burglars made off through a rear gate into Gainsborough Road.

Detective Constable Annette Nash said, “These callous thieves have gone into the house and stolen items of great sentimental value to the victim causing her upset and concern.”
