Police are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at a home in Eastbourne.

Between 1.30pm and 2.30pm on Sunday, September 28, a window at a bungalow in Old Drove was smashed and intruders entered the property.

A Samsung Galaxy mobile phone, an iPad, a jewellery box and costume jewellery was stolen.

Sussex Police launched Operation Magpie to tackle burglary across the county.

Detective Constable Mark Davis said, “There will have been lots of people passing Old Drove at that time of day as it is in a very busy part of Eastbourne. It is likely that the offenders used Fern Close as a cut through to get into The Drove and this is an area which leads to Langney Shopping Centre which is also a very busy area.

“We need to speak to anyone who was in the road and saw or heard anything and to anyone who was in the area and saw people acting suspiciously.

“If you know anything at all, please contact us.”

Anyone with information should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 875 of 28/09, call 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
