Bungling thief drops his phone at Eastbourne break-in

A bungling thief has been identified by police after leaving his mobile phone at the scene of the crime.

The mobile phone was dropped by the burglar during a break-in at the Eastbourne Cohub in the former Gazette and Herald offices in Commercial Road at the weekend.

The burglary happened between 8pm on Friday night and 10am on Saturday morning.

The intruder used a plant pot to smash a window on the balcony which overlooks the railway station car park.

A small amount of petty cash was stolen and the thief dropped their mobile phone which was recovered by police officers who are investigating.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101.
