Breaking News: revised plans for Seaford tip approved

Revised plans for Seaford’s Household Waste and Recycling Unit to remain open for part of the week have been approved today (Tuesday January 28).

The controversial issue was discussed by East Sussex County Council’s (ESCC) cabinet. An initial proposal to close the site at Cradle Hill led to a 8,700 petiiton signature against those plans being handed to ESCC’s chairman.

Seaford and other centres in Forest Row and Wadhurst were under threat of closure as the authority faces a reduction in funding of around £70 million over the next three years.

But after gaining further evidence of local demand for services following a consultation on the issue, the council’s cabinet considered other options at its meeting today and approved the recommendation which was to keep the Seaford site open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
