Vandals have caused damage running into thousands of pounds after leaving a trail of destruction in Princes Park overnight.

Both Pistachios Cafe and the Royal Sovereign Bowling Club in Princes Park suffered substantial damage after thugs ransacked both buildings between last night (Monday) and this morning.

It is not yet known if anything was stolen but chairman of the bowls club John Kinnard said the club building had been damaged when intruders got in through a secure roof light.

“Property has been strewn everywhere as they tried to get into every locker and cupboard,” said Mr Kinnard. “It’s sickening but our members will rally round and we will get the club back up and running soon.”

It comes after the clubhouse was refurbished and Pistachios re-opened after a major facelift.

Police are investigating and anyone with an information is asked to call 101.
