BREAKING: Man critically ill after ‘attack at barbecue’

A 28-year-old man is critically ill in hospital with serious head injuries after he was attacked following a barbecue in Wallis Avenue at the weekend.

The alleged attack happened at around 9.20pm on Sunday July 24.

Sussex Police said the victim was taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where he remains in a critical condition.

His alleged assailant, Dean Sadler, 27, a chef, from Turners Mead, Godalming, Surrey has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, wounding with intent and criminal damage to a garden fence.

He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (July 26) and was released on bail to await an appearance at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday, August 23.
