The restaurant named after the founder Antonio Carluccio will be situated on the ground floor of the 170,000 sq ft scheme.

The announcement by Legal & General Property, owners of the Arndale Centre, follows the news at the end of last year that Wagamama, Byron, Chiquito and Frankie & Benny’s will all feature in the centre.

Nando’s was the first restaurant to sign up for the scheme.

With the exception of Carluccio’s and Wagamama, the other restaurants will be located on the first floor alongside the entrance to the new nine-screen cinema that will be operated by Cineworld.

Retail development manager Neil Crawford said, “It’s a great start to 2016 to sign up another high quality restaurant for the scheme.

“Demand has been very strong and negotiations with other tenants are at an advanced stage.

“We therefore hope to make further announcements very soon.”

Work is well underway to carry out the first £2 million phase of the extension to create a contemporary glass atrium at the centre’s west entrance, nearest Banker’s Corner, and upgrade nearby shop fronts to be in keeping with the style of the new extension.

Kier Construction, with a regional office in Crawley, is carrying out the work.

It has built a temporary entrance to allow access to the Centre throughout the period to ensure business as usual for shops and customers.
