A man who has links to Seaford and Newhaven is currently being hunted by police after escaping from court this afternoon (Monday, April 4).
George Quatramiz escaped from Brighton Magistrates’ Court in Edward Street, where he was due to attend a bail hearing, at about 12.13pm today. It is believed he ran in the direction of the Old Steine.
He is described as white, aged 32, about 5’9”, of slim build, with a shaved head and stubble. He was last seen wearing a black or grey suit with a black shirt and trousers.
It is believed he may be with a woman in her 20s, wearing a grey tracksuit top and bottoms, and carrying a bag.
Inspector Adele Tucknott said: “While we do not consider Quatramiz to be a risk to the public, we would urge anyone who sees him not to approach him, but to report it to police immediately.
“He is known to have links to Seaford and Newhaven, and it is possible he could be using public transport.”
It is unknown at this stage how Quatramiz escaped from court staff and police are investigating the full circumstances of the incident.
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 999 quoting Operation Audrey.
