BREAKING: Armed robbery outside Eastbourne bank

Police are seeking witnesses to an armed robbery outside a bank in Eastbourne.

Just after 11.15am on Wednesday (February 24) a security guard delivering a box containing several thousand pounds in cash to the NatWest bank in Brassey Avenue, when he was approached by a man carrying what appeared to be a long barrelled gun.

The armed suspect demanded the box and the guard handed it over. No shots were fired and the guard was not hurt.

The suspect got into a blue BMW which drove away and was abandoned and set on fire further outside Parkland School shortly afterwards.

They were seen running into Parkfield Road and getting into a white Transit type van, which drove away.

Detective Inspector Neil Ralph said, “If you were in Brassey Avenue this morning and saw what happened, or the blue BMW, or the white van, or have any other information, please contact us via [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 443 of 24/02.

“You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 (www.crimestoppers-org.uk).”
